Built in 1927 for $950,000, Michigan Stadium, nicknamed "The Big House," is currently the second largest college football stadium in the world with a capacity of 106,201. The largest stadium crowd exceeded 112,000 fans. The football program ranks first in NCAA history in total wins (over 869), and winning percentage (.745), while achieving 11 national, and 42 conference titles. The University, founded in 1817 in Detroit, moved to Ann Arbor in 1837. Today, it educates over 41,000 students annually and has more than 420,000 living graduates.
